Apple Will Give Additional Royalties For Music Makers With Spatial Audio Format

JAKARTA Apple will provide additional royalties to record labels or artists who want to offer music in the form of spatial audio, audio format with 3D effects from various directions.

Based on the Briomberg report, this additionalroyalti will be implemented starting next year. Artists who release their music in a spatial audio version will get higher royalties than other artists.

Currently, almost all Apple devices support spatial audio playback such as AirPods, HomePod, iPhone, to the Vision Pro spatial computer. When music is presented in spatial audio format, the playback will be more balanced.

Giving additional royalties is one way for Apple to provide record labels or artists in the same format. This format will also benefit Apple and record labels or artists who make the music.

Unlike ordinary royalties, record labels or artists who provide spatial audio support do not need to get listeners to get paid. They just need to release music in that format.

Although this new regulation has spread, the amount of funds Apple will provide is not yet known. However, this new provision remains a great step towards providing higher royalties to the creators of musical works.

In addition to bringing a better music listening experience, this new provision can invite more independent musicians or small artists to join Apple Music. They can also attract more music lovers because of their better format.
