JAKARTA - Meta Platforms, parent company from Facebook and Instagram, announced that users in Europe will be given more options for consuming their services according to the European Union's Digital Markets Act (DMA).
The world's largest social media company is the latest in making changes to comply with DMA after Google describes their efforts to comply with EU's new technology rules that could cost some companies revenue.
In the next few weeks, users will receive a notification telling them they can choose whether to share information between Meta services, Meta said in a blog post.
Based on DMA, which all Big Tech companies including Meta until March 7, companies are required to treat their own services and products such as they treat competitors.

Facebook Messenger users will be able to choose whether they want to link their Facebook account to a Messenger account, or have separate accounts for both services, the company said.
Meta adds that Instagram and Facebook users who have linked the two accounts can choose to manage it separately and no longer share information between the two accounts.
Users can also choose whether to share information between their Facebook account and the Gaming and Marketplace services from the platform.
