JAKARTA – At the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Google announced that they will launch Quick Share, an application for sharing files between devices very easily.

Quick Share is the result of Google's collaboration with Samsung. The two created Quick Share as the best solution provider for sharing files on Android devices. This solution is referred to as a single cross-Android solution.

“We have integrated experiences and created the best native option for peer-to-peer content sharing across all types of devices in the Android ecosystem,” said Vice President of the Android Ecosystem, Sameer Samat, on Google's official website.

Apart from presenting Quick Share on Android devices, this application will also be available on personal computers (PCs). Google intends to add this application to two types of laptops, namely Chromebooks and Windows.

“To make sharing between devices even smoother, we are working with leading PC manufacturers like LG to extend Quick Share to Windows PCs as a pre-installed application,” said Samat.

Quick Share is a replacement application for Nearby Share which Google launched in 2020. Although it wasn't explained clearly, Samat said that users, "Just tap the new Quick Share icon."

This means that Quick Share is a re-branding of Nearby Share. Actually, some people already know this because Google has changed the name since the end of last December on Samsung Galaxy devices.

However, this name change was only carried out in the beta version. Apart from the name changing, the logo has also changed to two arrows pointing at each other with semicircular tails. The plan is that Quick Share will be launched to the public in February.
