JAKARTA - Just entered 2024, Google is already planning to close its 'Important' tab from Files by Google, in the near future, which is around February this year.

For information, the Import tab was first launched on Files by Google as an exclusive device feature in India. Once you choose to use it, the app will scan all files on your phone to identify anything that may contain passport, identification, or other important documents.

Unfortunately, it's only been a year, Google has planned to remove this Import feature. However, it is not known what the reason behind the deletion decision was.

The Important Tab in Files will no longer be available starting February 15, 2024. Your documents stored in the Important tab will be permanently removed from the File after this date," the announcement reads from 9to5Google.

To ensure all users have time to prepare, the company will also send a notification informing them of the shutdown.

So, if you don't want all important files to be deleted in vain, Google recommends users to save a copy of the document using the Share option.

To save a copy of your document, use the Share option to do so before February 15, 2024, added Google.
