JAKARTA - Dinner bookings can be stressful and time-consuming, but thanks to the latest developments in artificial intelligence (AI), aid may come soon. According to Cara Meller, director of the Ai-Da robot project, the anticipated 5 version of ChatGPT emerged in 2024 will have the ability to call restaurants and make reservations.

Meller revealed that a major update in this popular AI tool is coming soon, allowing it to take action in the real world, not just as a text editor. In the previous version, the ChatGPT version 4, which was released in the spring of this year, brings hope for major improvements.

Although non-paid users still use the 3.5 version of ChatGPT, version 4 brings improved memory and data-to-text functions. Meller predicts that ChatGPT version 5 will involve a function that allows this chatbot to develop to its daily functions, such as ordering restaurants automatically.

According to Meller, users can easily instruct their phones with the words, "Can you order a restaurant for me on Monday at 7?" and the 5th version of ChatGPT will be able to call the restaurant, talk to them, and confirm the reservation.

Although this AI has seen an update that allows it to interact with datasets and respond to images, there is currently no text-to-sound function that allows chatbots to call restaurants on behalf of users.

While Meller is not part of OpenAI, the company responsible for ChatGPT, but as an expert in AI, he shares views on the huge impact AI will have on our daily lives. Meller believes that the AI revolution will peak in 2026 or 2027, with a huge impact on all industries.

In addition, Meller discussed the impact of AI on our ability to find accurate information, especially with the theme that focuses on the 2023 Royal Institutional Christmas Lecture, namely AI. He expressed concern that AI could allow for fake situations that are difficult to distinguish, and this is a serious problem, especially ahead of next year's election.
