Apple Watch Series 9 And Ultra 2 Officially Withdrawn From US Apple Store

JAKARTA In accordance with the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) decision, sales of Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 were officially discontinued on December 24.

Now, the two smartwatches that were just released last September cannot be found in all of the United States' Apple Stores. These two devices have also been removed from Apple's online store, specifically in the United States.

This stopping action can be seen from the promotional boards of the Apple Store that have been changed. If previously the promotion boards still feature Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, now the devices displayed are Apple Watch SE.

Unlike the other two smartwatch series, Apple Watch SE does not have a blood oxygen sensor so the device is safe to sell. This device also does not violate Masimo's patent, a medical technology company.

The discontinued sales of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 are a form of Apple's compliance with ITC's decision last October. At that time, Apple was declared to have violated the patents of the devices issued by Masimo.

Although ITC has banned the sale of the two smartwatches, Apple still has hope that the ITC decision will be reviewed at the White House. This review lasted 60 days and will end on Monday, December 25.

United States President Joe Biden has the right to overturn ITC's decision so that Apple can re-sell their two smart devices. However, Biden has not taken any action to date.

While waiting for Biden's decision, Apple had filed a motion regarding the postponement of the sale of two smartwatches. This decision was opposed by the plaintiff, even Masimo had filed a two-time objection on November 9 and 20.

After exploring Apple's motion and objections from Masimo, ITC decided to reject Apple's request. Therefore, sales cessation remains in effect even though Biden has not announced his decision.

Meanwhile, Apple had told 9to5mac that it would appeal ITC's decision to the United States Court of Appeal to the Federal Circuit. The plan is that this appeal will be filed on December 26.
