JAKARTA - Twitch's efforts to regulate sexual content are apparently not going well. The reason is, some streamers still find it difficult to interpret the content policies implemented on the platform.

Those streamers having trouble understanding policies is a challenge for Twitch. According to them, the policy will not work effectively if the streamers don't understand what is allowed and what is not allowed.

Therefore, Twitch decided to simplify its policies around sexual content. They combined two separate policies in their Community Guidelines, namely Sexually Suggestive Content and Sexually Explicit Content, into a Sexual Content Policy.

"In addition to providing clarity, this update will also reduce the risk of inconsistent law enforcement and bring our policies more in line with other social media services," said Twitch's Head of Customer Trust, Angela Hession, in an official release.

Angela explained that her party had changed several rules regarding Content Classification Labels (CCL). Starting Thursday, December 14, content that intentionally emphasizes breasts, buttocks or the pelvic area has been permitted as long as the streamer has the CCL mark.

Other rules that are now permitted are works of fiction that show women's genitals or buttocks in their entirety, body writing on the breasts or around the buttocks, erotic dances such as striptease, and popular dances that contain twerking, grinding, and even pole dancing.

Meanwhile, gameplay content that features a focus on nudity or sex will be completely banned. However, for games that do not feature nudity, users must use the Mature Rated Game Content Classification Label.

“Failure to accurately use Content Classification Labels will result in a warning and the correct CCL being applied by Twitch to the stream. If you fail to apply the correct CCL repeatedly, the CCL will be temporarily locked on the stream,” explains Twitch.
