JAKARTA - In 2020, Chinese technology manufacturer Huawei announced that it will build a radio equipment plant in France to complement the needs of the 5G network.

Although Huawei's plans are mature enough, the project hasn't shown any progress over the years. From a Reuters report, one of the sources said that the project was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Although the pandemic has subsided since the beginning of the year, Huawei has only been preparing itself recently. From sources that do not want to be disclosed, the construction of this factory will be carried out next year.

There is no more detailed information regarding the construction date. However, the 5G network support plant is expected to be completed by 2025, according to the findings of Reuters on the French government website.

It is not yet known whether the year Reuters found was added or has been there since 2022. If the year was added since the initial construction plan, the plant may be completed after 2025.

The 5G network support plant received initial investment funds worth US$215.28 million or around Rp3.3 trillion. Two years ago, Huawei said that this factory would be worked on by 500 people.

Although it seems that the factory's development plan is running smoothly, some parties in the United States do not like the presence of the factory. This is because several countries in Europe have banned the use of Huawei phones.
