JAKARTA - The giant chip company from the United States, Nvidia, will discuss a semiconductor cooperation agreement with Vietnamese technology companies. According to authorities at a meeting in Hanoi on Monday, December 4, as seen in the invitation letter to participants seen by Reuters.
The Southeast Asian nation, which is home to a large chip assembly plant including Intel's largest plant globally, is working to develop in chip design and possibly also chip manufacturing due to trade tensions between the United States and China creating opportunities for Vietnam in this strategic industry.
Jensen Huang, president and chief executive of Nvidia, will meet representatives from the Vietnamese government and Vietnamese companies on Monday, December 18 to discuss ways to "encourage the semiconductor industry" in Vietnam and "potential cooperation between Nvidia and Vietnamese technology companies."
A source familiar with the preparations for the meeting said that it hoped Nvidia would agree to make a technology transfer agreement with at least one company in Vietnam.
The source was not willing to be named because it was not allowed to speak publicly about the matter.
