Regarding The Issue Of KPU Data Leaks, Kominfo Is Conducting An In-depth Investigation

Recently, the virtual world was shocked again with the issue of leakage of more than 252 million permanent voters (DPT) from the official website of the General Elections Commission (KPU).

The data contains information from 252 million people including NIK, NKK, ID number, TPS, e-KTP, gender, and date of birth. The data also includes the consulate general of the Republic of Indonesia, the embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, and the consulate of the Republic of Indonesia.

Regarding this issue, Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Nezar Patria, said that currently the Ministry of Communication and Information is tracing and waiting for more detailed official information from the KPU and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).

"We are currently tracing and waiting for information from the KPU and BSSN. For more details, we can ask the KPU about the data creating or the data theft that occurred was caused by an internal system or indeed there were other things," Nezar told the media when VOI asked about the continuation of the issue of data leaks at a press conference on the Large Language Model Development Cooperation (LLM) between GLAIR.ai, Datasaur.ai, BRIN, CORIKA, and AISG on Thursday, November 30 in Jakarta.

Nevertheless, Nezar emphasized that Kominfo is still coordinating with the KPU and BSSN, "And even with the National Police Chief to trace this issue," he said.

Previously, Pratama Persadha as Chairman of the Cyber Security Research Institute (CISSReC) claimed to have verified sample data through the cendpt website, and the data released by the Kendpt website is the same as the sample data shared by hackeras, including the TPS number where voters are registered.

Although hackermen say that he has 252 million Indonesian voter data, after screening, there are 204,807,203 unique data where this number is almost the same as the number of voters in the KPU DPT, which amounts to 204,807,222 voters.

Pratama predicts that it is very likely that it will succeed in obtaining login access with the KPU Admin role from the domain sidalih.kpu.go.id using the phishing method, social engineering or through malware.

If the prediction is correct, Pratama stated that this could be very dangerous at the election democracy party which will soon be held because it is possible that the account with the role admin can be used to change the results of the vote count recapitulation.
