JAKARTA The Technological Coalition, a group of well-known technology companies, has created a Lantern program to fight the problem of online exploitation and sexual harassment of children (OCSEA).

Lantern is a database for companies in donating data. Through this program, companies can track email addresses or usernames that have violated the OCSEA policy or have disseminated sexual harassment material against children (CSAM).

One of the founders of this program is Meta. According to the company, the use of technology such as PhotoDNA is not enough to stop CSAM on the internet so that predator candidate tracking platforms such as the Lantern are urgently needed.

Meta has been testing this platform. The company took information in the form of URLs that MEGA submitted to the database. From this data, Meta found a number of accounts that could potentially commit violations.

As a result, the Meta Children's Safety Specialist Team removed more than 10,000 Facebook Profiles, Pages, and Instagram accounts detected for violations. Meta also reported these accounts to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Setelah mengambil tindakan, Meta membagikan detail penyelidikan mereka ke Lander sehingga perusahaan lain bisa memanfaatkan data tersebut. Perputaran hasil penyelidikan inilah inilah yang bisa digunakan mitra Lander.

"We are delighted to partner with the Coalition of Technology and our colleagues on the Lantern program, and we hope other parties in the industry will join us to expand this important work," Meta said in its release.

So far, the companies that have participated in the Lantern are Discord, Google, Meta, MEGA, Quora, Roblox, Snap, and Twitch. The hope is that the partners of the platform that have been built over the past two years will increase in the future.
