YouTube Becomes A Platform For Local Musicians For International Audience Jangkau

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Music Award or AMI Awards will be held again in Indonesia. This year, AMI gave awards to traditional musicians who have contributed to building, preserving and advancing traditional Indonesian music.

In line with this mission, YouTube as an online video platform with hundreds of millions of users and creators in Indonesia, contributes to human development and the creative economy in Indonesia.

According to YouTube Report 2023 data, as many as 83 percent of music companies that have YouTube channels agree that YouTube is important to introduce new artists and/or music.

In addition, 82 percent of music companies with YouTube channels also agree that YouTube is helping them reach new audiences around the world.

"Since YouTube arrived in Indonesia, this platform has had a big impact on the progress of the music industry in Indonesia. It not only helps find new talents from all corners of the country, but also opens the widest opportunity for Indonesian musicians to connect with audiences around the world," said Candra Darusman, Chairperson of the AMI Foundation at the Press Conference. "The Role of Digital Platform Supports Indonesian Musicians to the World Conference" on Monday, November 6.

Candra also said that YouTube allows Indonesian musicians to earn income from doing things they enjoy. For this reason, the collaboration of the Indonesian Music Foundation and YouTube is expected to continue.

Having the same goal, Paul Smith, Managing Director, YouTube Music, Asia Pacific also said that music is the heart of Indonesian culture.
