Apple M2 Versus M3 Processor: Comparison From Price To Excellence

JAKARTA - During the Fastcary event, Apple compared their M3 processors more with M1. In fact, there is still a younger generation M2 than the M1 processor.

The easiest way to compare the M2 and M3 processors from Apple is to look at the devices that carry both of them, namely the MacBook Pro. We can find significant differences from the two.

Looking at the latest MacBook Pro, we will probably be surprised a little by the price. The reason is, the price of the latest MacBook Pro M3 is cheaper than the MacBook Pro M2.

This is actually very rare because usually cheaper devices are devices with the longest age. There is a clear reason why this could happen, namely the use of the Touch Bar that was removed.

In addition to getting rid of Touch Bar, Apple also lowered GPUs and CPUcores so that the 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 series fell to US $ 1,599 (IDR 25.3 million), much cheaper than the MacBook Pro M2 for 1,999 US dollars (IDR 31.6 million).

For the RAM presented, thechipM3 Pro supports 36GB RAM, slightly more than thechipM2 Pro with a maximum memory of only 32GB. Meanwhile, M3 Max offers 128GB RAM, much more than M2 Max which only offers 96GB.

Another change we can see is the use of 3 nanometers of dichipM3, the same as the chipA17 Pro in the latest iPhone 15 series. This means that the performance offered is faster than the previous processor.

The most important points from the ratio of M2 and M3 processors are both GPU and CPUcore. ChipM3 Max is equipped with a 16-core CPU and a 40-core GPU, while M2 Max is equipped with a 12-core CPU and 38-core GPU.

In the Pro,chipM3 and M2 Pro series both have 12-core CPUs, but M2 has additional coreGPUs. Despite offering more variations, Apple claims the M3 Pro GPU is 10 percent stronger than the M2 Pro GPU.

The last comparison we can know is thechipM3 supports Dynamic Caching technology which is able to improve the performance of games and heavy applications. This ability is not owned by the M2 processor.

Seeing this comparison, there is not a sizeable increase from the two processors. However, both of them deserve to be considered properly before we buy the MacBook Pro which brings the M2 and M3 processors.

In addition, both processors can be a good choice as long as we can adapt them to our daily needs. So, make sure you have chosen the device with the right processor.
