TPA Dengung Lebak Burns to an Area of 1 Hectare

JAKARTA - The Dengung Landfill, Lebak Regency, Banten, was on fire covering an area of 1,000 square meters and could be quickly extinguished, so that it did not spread to other waste piles.

"We are moving quickly to carry out the fire so that the fire does not spread," said Head of Waste Management of the Environment Service (DLH) of Lebak Regency Nana Mulyana, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 30.

The incident of the garbage fire is still under investigation. Waste management officers of the Dengung landfill saw the smoke at around 11.00 WIB at the location of the sanitary landfill system or waste processing in the inactive waste zone.

The fire was extinguished by the fire service (Damkar) at around 14.00 WIB.

"We appreciate that the fire could be quickly extinguished, so that it did not spread to other waste areas," he said.

The TPA Dengung is located in Sindang Mulya Village, Maja District, Lebak Regency, covering an area of 13 hectares. Currently, the TPA Dengung is accommodating household waste and Rangkasbitung market waste of around 150 tons per day.

"We ask the public to be alert to fires, especially during the dry season," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Prevention Division of the Lebak Regency Police and Fire Department, Rusli, said that his party had deployed two fire vehicles, also assisted by three TPA Dengung tank cars.

The blackout in the inactive garbage zone lasted about four hours and the fire could be put out by firefighters.
