Regarding The Prohibition Of The Kaspersky Application In Canada, Kaspersky: Unfounded Allegations

JAKARTA - On Monday, October 30, Canada's Finance Council Secretariat banned the WeChat app, and Russia's Kaspersky antiviral program on mobile devices due to privacy and security risks.

In a response received by VOI on Tuesday, October 31, the global cybersecurity company expressed its disappointment with the Canadian government's decision.

"Kaspersky is disappointed with the decision of the Canadian Finance Council Secretariat to ban the use of Kaspersky applications on mobile devices issued by the government," Kaspersky wrote in a statement.

According to him, the decision was made without any advance warning to Kaspersky regarding the basic technical concerns feared by the Canadian government. Furthermore, the company believes the decision was made on a political basis.

So, because there is no evidence or process that justifies the action, Kaspersky stated that this ban is based on baseless accusations.

"Kaspersky will continue to reassure its partners and customers about the quality and integrity of its products, and remain ready to work closely with Canadian government agencies to address supervisory agency concerns and overturn this decision," Kaspersky concluded.

Kaspersky assured that since 2017, they have implemented a series of massive measures to increase transparency and reaffirm the safety and reliability of the solution.

The security and integrity of Kaspersky's data services and engineering practices have also been confirmed by an independent third-party assessment.
