British Space Agency Grants IDR 20 Billion Funds For Amber Phoenix Mission

JAKARTA Horizon Technologies announced that it received a grant of 1.2 million euros or around Rp. 20 billion from the British Space Agency.

This grant is part of the Amber Phoenix Mission which cost 2.8 million euros (Rp48 billion). Reportedly, Horizon will re-launch Earth Observation payload Amber FR ( Radio Frequence) in the middle of next year.

Amber is a space-based data service to detect dark boats seeking to avoid detection in illegal fishing, smuggling of humans and goods, transportation, and refugees.

To detect these various illegal acts, Horizon plans to incorporate 20 Amber charges into low-earth orbit (LEO). This contest is capable of providing Radar and SatPhone (RF) data worldwide with 30 minutes of latency.

Amber will detect, geolocate, and change the RF signal from a dark ship. Amber's satellite is also able to suck up RF signals that produce emissions to the earth about 3 percent per day.

Amber was launched in January this year via Virgin Orbit's Boeing 747 before the company went bankrupt. This launch did not go well because the rocket and its payload caught fire in the atmosphere.

With the disappearance of Amber In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD-3) with Virgin Orbit rockets and aircraft, Amber Phoenix is being rebuilt by AAXhir Space (ACS).
