Apple Becomes the Most Excellent Big Tech Company in Reducing Carbon Emissions

JAKARTA - Stand.earth, a non-profit organization that protects the environment, compared the initiatives to combat climate change carried out by six technology companies, namely Apple, Dell, Google, HP, Microsoft and Nvidia.

Of the six large companies in the technology sector, Apple is said to be the company with the best initiative. Although Stand.earth cast doubt on Apple's carbon neutral claims in a separate report, Apple remained the leader of the six companies they looked at.

Big Tech, the term for the most advanced technology companies, produces at least four percent of greenhouse gas emissions, beating emissions from the aviation sector. It is this issue that makes Stand.earth continue to pay attention to technology companies' efforts to address the issue of climate change.

Luckily, Apple has officially stated that they will implement carbon neutrality throughout their product production and supply chain. In fact, Apple has doubled its environmentally friendly power from 2021 and 2022.

The real step that Apple is taking can be seen from the release of their first carbon neutral iPhone 15 case. Not only on the iPhone 15, the watch straps for the latest Apple Watch are also carbon neutral.

Global Climate Policy Director Stand.earth Gary Cook said that Apple was too quick to claim their products were carbon neutral. However, Apple has proven their point in reality.

“They are the only company that is setting a strong example of shifting operations away from fossil fuels and working aggressively to get their suppliers to switch to fossil fuels,” Cook explained.
