JAKARTA - Asia Pacific is home to the largest internet user group in the world. Thus, this region is also the target of cyberattacks that most occur compared to other regions.

Cybersecurity is a challenge that includes the entire ecosystem and collaboration. For this reason, Google has revealed some of their efforts to strengthen cybersecurity in the Asia Pacific region.

Establishing Cyber Security Advantage Center In Japan

Strengthening cybersecurity requires five things: strategic policy regulations and arrangements, cutting-edge technology and resilient infrastructure on a large scale, skills, digital literacy, and government-private collaboration.

Google's President of Global Affairs, Kent Walker, announced the construction of the Cyber Security Advantage Center, which serves as a center for facilitating policy dialogue, providing training programs to individuals, organizations, and governments, as well as supporting research by universities and research institutes.

Training to improve cybersecurity skills

In addition, Google created the Google Cybersecurity Certificate Cyber Security Certificate program. This course can be completed online in less than six months of part-time study without requiring prior experience.

In Tokyo, Google will also provide certificate programs in Japanese and offer 20,000 scholarships through Japan Reskilling Consortium.

Helping organizations of all types and sizes

Through Google.org, Google's philanthropic branch, the search giant provided $ 15 million (IDR 235.5 billion) to The Asia Foundation to launch the APAC Cyber Security Fund in partnership with the Cyberpeace Institute and Global Cyber Alliance in 13 locations in the Asia Pacific region.

In collaboration with various organizations and universities across the region, The Asia Foundation aims to increase cyber capabilities from 300,000 micro and small businesses, non-profit organizations, and underserved social ventures.

Share Google resources for stronger security

Earlier this year, Google published Secure AI Framework (SAIF), a conceptual framework for a secure AI system based on Google's best security practices, so that others can learn.
