X Corp Sues Atlas Exploration Of IDR 11 Billion Regarding Office Room Rental Contract

JAKARTA - X Corp, a company owned by Elon MUSK, is facing legal claims related to unpaid lease payments. They have sued a financial services company for more than US$ 713,500 (Rp11 billion) which is allegedly unpaid as a rental fee and other costs derived from a sub-hostal agreement for office spaces in San Francisco.

X, formerly known as Twitter, sued Atlas Exploration at the San Francisco Superior Court on Thursday, September 28 in a lawsuit alleging a contract breach.

Atlas, formerly known as Point Up Inc, markets himself as an "invited credit card" that gives its members access to exclusive places to eat and travel.

Atlas and X entered a substalignment agreement for space at 650 California Street in San Francisco's financial district in April 2021, as revealed in the lawsuit. The lawsuit says Atlas tried to end the sub-stalty earlier last year.

X said that Atlas owed more than $340,263 for rent from September to November last year. X also accused Atlas of not paying the agreed start-up fee.

A lawyer who has represented Atlas in this dispute, Kevin Hill, did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the media on Friday, September 29.

Hill said in a letter to X in April that the company was unfair in demanding rental payments for certain months last year after Atlas had paid the cost of its new office premises.

X has faced various legal action related to unpaid rental payments and other invoices following Musk's Twitter purchase in October last year.

In one case, the owner of the main office X at 1355 Market Street in San Francisco sued X for more than US$3.1 million (Rp48 billion) which had not been paid as rent. X is debating this claim in court.

The UK Crown Estate, which manages a property portfolio owned by the monarchy, in January filed a claim against X regarding unpaid rental payments at its London headquarters.

Separately, X faces various employee lawsuits that challenge termination of employment, payment of termination of employment, and other benefits.

A lawyer for X, Jonathan Hawk, did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment. A representative from X had no immediate comment, Reuters reported.
