JAKARTA - Netflix will soon close its DVD rental service in the United States (US), therefore customers will not be charged additional fees for those who have not returned the disk after September 29.

The company also offers 10 subscribers who are still in line, meaning customers will get multiple copies of Netflix's movie disk.

"Please enjoy your last delivery for as long as you like!," said the Netflix DVD in his X account.

By the way, a happy clarification in response to all the news headlines out there:We are not charging for any unreturned discs after 9/29. Please enjoy your final shipments for as long as you like! ❤️💿🍿 https://t.co/lpSJHq29ZX

In the promotional email to customers, Netflix revealed, "Let's have fun for our finals! What's fun is seeing how many disks come," the company wrote.

DVD.com services have been operating for 25 years. However, the company has announced plans to stop the service in April.

According to a Stasta report, in 2021, DVD services will only account for 0.5 percent of Netflix's non-streaming revenue, down to 150 million US dollars equivalent to IDR 2.2 trillion from the previous year.

With the closure of DVD.com, it marked the end of the DVD delivery business which was originally launched by the company and later became a streaming giant, such as being confiscated from The Verge and Gizmodo, Wednesday, August 23.

"Our goal is to always provide the best service for our members, but as businesses continue to shrink, it will become increasingly difficult. So we want to go to a high place," said Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos in announcing the closure of his DVD service.

"To everyone who has added DVD to their queue or wait in the letter box until the red envelope arrives. Thank you," he continued.
