Microsoft Trial Availability Of Bing Chat To Chrome And Safari Browsers

JAKARTA - Following several reports on Microsoft's AI chatbot, Bing Chat, which was present in other browsers such as Google Chrome and Apple's Safari, Microsoft finally confirmed the truth of the news.

Microsoft said that they are currently conducting trials of several selected people, to be able to use Bing Chat in the two browsers.

We provide access to Bing Chat in Safari and Chrome to select users as part of our testing in other browsers, said Microsoft communications director Caitlin Roullston, in a statement to TechCrunch.

This expansion will make the ChatGPT-like AI chatbot available to wider users. Because previously, this Bing Chat was only available to users with the Microsoft Edge Browser and the Bing mobile app.

"We are excited to expand access to more users once our standard testing procedure is complete," added Roulston.

According to his statement, people who get access to the Bing AI chatbot in Windows, will receive a pop-up in the Windows 10 or 11 taskbar, which offers the opportunity to try Bing AI on Chrome.

Although this Bing Chat is supported by OpenAI's GPT-4 model, some reports that have tested AI chat bots in other browsers, say that Bing Chat has more limitations compared to the original version.

For example, the WindowsLatest.com blog notes that Bing Chat in Chrome only supports five messages per conversation, not 30 messages available on Microsoft Edge.

For this matter, Microsoft refused to confirm details or share further information about the differences between various versions of Bing Chat when asked for information by Techcrunch.
