JAKARTA - Twitter has started rolling out voicemail features for its mobile, iOS and Android applications. Users can try this feature directly on Direct Messages (DM).

The feature was first announced by Andrea Conway, who leads the design on Twitter for core products. He tweeted recently that the feature is now available globally.

The voicemail feature is a tool that users can use to chat privately with people they may follow or not.

And of course, it saves more time than having to type text messages for longer topics. Twitter, of course, is not the pioneer of the feature, first WhatsApp and Telegram have launched it.

But most importantly, voicemail features can be accessed for free, users don't need to subscribe to Twitter Blue which is quite drainy.

Currently, Elon Musk's Twitter sets the duration of the voicemail feature to 140 seconds, which is much shorter than the unspecified duration on WhatsApp.

So, if users want to share a long topic, they have to send voice messages many times. Although Twitter has not officially announced it, the VOI team has been able to try out the feature. Here's the review below.

First, open DM Twitter by pressing the email icon at the bottom of the home page. Select the account to send a voice message, then click the audio icon at the right end of the text composition box.

When the VOI team tried it, it was like when sending Voice Note (VN) on WhatsApp. When the team starts to speak up, a tab will appear that changes in color with the words Recording, signaling the feature is recording sound.

It should be noted, users must press the audio icon to record the sound. When finished, the VOI team then sent the voice message by pulling the audio icon to the DM icon on it.

Voice messages will appear in the chat thread next to the profile photo. In addition, users can also add reactions to voice records and reply.

The voice records that have been sent can also be deleted by pressing them, but these notes can still be accessed by the recipient.

Finally, users can also cancel and re-enable voice messages before sending them to the recipient, by sliding the audio icon to the left.
