However, Kaspersky revealed that smart devices can carry risks that traditional offline key users do not have. The following are three reasons smart lock can be dangerous.

First, a physically more vulnerable smart key than an ordinary key

The main problem is the smart key incorporating two different concepts. In theory, this key must have a reliable smart component, while at the same time it provides a strong protection against physical interference so it cannot be opened with, say, tools such as a screwdriver or a folding knife. Combining these two concepts doesn't always work: the results are usually in the form of a thin smart key, or a heavy iron key with a vulnerable software.

Second, problems with "smart" components

Creating a safe'smart' component is also not easy. It's important to remember that such device developers prioritize functionality more often than protection.

The software has been implemented in such a way that everyone can gain access to videos and sounds from the camera at any time. And if you don't think about isolating the web interface from the internet, anyone can control the lock and open the door.

Third, software needs to be updated regularly

Smart phones usually receive updates for two or three years after its release. As for low-budget IoT devices, support (support) may be held back early. Updating smart devices via the internet is quite easy. However, maintaining support for devices requires resources and costs from vendors.
