JAKARTA - Google Fiber, a service that provides a super-fast network from Google, revealed that it will launch a faster internet package to its users.

Based on what was uploaded by Amalia O'Sullivan as Director of Product Management, Google Fiber has been providing users with internet speed since 12 years ago. Starting at 1 Gbps in 2010 and then continuing with 2 Gbps plans in 2020.

"From our start with 1 Gbps to being one of the first ISPs with widely accessible multi-gig products at 2 Gbps two years ago, Google Fiber has always pushed for what is meant by "fast" in terms of internet services," said Amalia.

Now, Google will launch additional internet packages of 5 Gbps and 8 Gbps in early 2023. Both products will offer symmetrical upload and download speeds with a Wi-Fi 6 router or using your own router.

The two new plans will be priced for daily use at $125 (IDR 1.9 million)/month for 5 Gbps and USD 150 (IDR 2.3 million)/month for 8 Gbps.

"At Google Fiber, we want to make sure our customers are ready for whatever happens on the internet," he continued.

While 2 Gbps is used for many gamers and power streamers, the company says that the 5 Gbps and 8 Gbps plans are designed for internet users such as creative professionals, people working in the cloud or with big data, as well as households with large shared internet needs.

"5 Gbps will make it easy to upload and download simultaneously, regardless of file size. And 8 Gbps will ensure that everything you do online happens in almost real time."

Unfortunately, Google Fiber is not yet available in Indonesia. However, if you're a Google Fiber customer in Utah, Kansas City, or West Des Moines, you can try this new product as early as next month.
