JAKARTA - Twitter confirmed that it had blocked Kanye West, who now goes by the name "Ye," from his account on the platform. This was forced to do after West posted an anti-Semitic tweet on Saturday, October 8.

"The account in question has been locked for violating Twitter policies," Twitter spokeswoman Katie Rosborough said in a statement to The Verge.

Twitter has deleted Ye's tweet, but some users took screenshots of the post before Twitter deleted it. "I'm a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I'll be dead on 3 JEWS," Ye wrote. “The funny thing is, I can't actually be Anti-Semitic because black people are actually Jews too. You guys have toyed with me and tried to blackmail anyone who opposes your agenda."

Ye, who has been inactive on Twitter for about two years, was immediately greeted by Elon Musk as soon as he returned to the platform. He posted the hateful tweet shortly after Instagram restricted access to his account, prompting him to call out Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to "kick him off Instagram."

On Friday, Ye posted screenshots on Instagram showing text messages between him and rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs, accusing Diddy of being controlled by Jews. This drew a response from the American Jewish Committee (AJC), which denounced Ye for embracing anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

It's unclear how long Ye will be unable to have access to his Twitter account, as the platform's rules say it can put user profiles in "read-only mode" for 12 hours to seven days depending on the violation.

This means that you cannot tweet, retweet, or like any posts until the lock is lifted, but other users can still interact with the content.

These two outbursts of hatred come less than a week after Ye was arrested wearing a "White Lives Matter" shirt, a phrase that the Anti-Defamation League classifies as a hate slogan.

Ye also appeared on Fox News in an interview with Tucker Carlson which the AJC said was "full of racist and antisemitic undertones."
