JAKARTA - The first-person shooter video game Splitgate by publisher 1047 Games has achieved success after being released for PC in 2019 and consoles in 2021. The success managed to get 10 million downloads within a month thanks to the combination of Halo and Portal gameplay.

But sadly, developer 1047 Games announced two days ago that they decided to halt development of the feature, effectively putting the game into maintenance mode.

"Splitgate reached a level of success we could not have anticipated and some indie games were fortunate to achieve," the publisher wrote in an announcement on Twitter.

The studio said that early success also brought the opportunity for game publisher AAA Splitgate to compete with shooters from the biggest publishers in the game industry today.

"After careful consideration and much deliberation, the 1047 Games team has decided to end development of the Splitgate feature," the publisher added more clearly.

So, now the studio will focus on the next project. 1047 Games mentions that it will be a free-to-play shooter game with portals and set in the same universe. 1047 will build the game on Unreal Engine 5.

Splitgate will still be online for the foreseeable future. The publisher will also be launching a new free Battle Pass on September 15 as a thank you.

"Game support will continue and there will be smaller updates and fixes for Splitgate, but much of our focus is on an entirely new shooter that we can't wait to share with you."
