JAKARTA - IKEA has long provided a feature that allows you to preview your home furniture using VR technology.
But now, IKEA is setting up further capabilities in iO applications using AI technology. The new feature is called IKEA Kreativ.
IKEA Kreativ will scan your room and then create a 3D replica. From there, you can remove the existing furniture, and then replace it with the new one.
"Scans are performed via something IKEA calls the Kreativ Scene Scanner, which uses LiDAR if it's available on your iPhone. It also works on iPhone or iPad without LiDAR, although it allows the app to pull in additional spatial detail," IKEA told Engadget, quoted Thursday, June 23.
To use it on the web or on other devices without LiDAR, you can simply add a series of photos of your room via the IKEA app, with IKEA Kreativ capturing a wide-angle, accurate scale replica of your room.

IKEA is providing over 50 new virtual exhibition spaces. It lets you virtually browse the IKEA catalog and try out products in a 3D setting.
You will quickly swap, move, rotate, stack, and hang IKEA products," the company said in a press release.
In addition, IKEA joined a new group created by Microsoft, Meta, and others to create a standard metaverse. So you might be able to find furniture at least in VR.
