JAKARTA - Sony recently said that its company will create a game subscription service such as Game Pass from Microsoft. The PlayStation Plus service will offer hundreds of games, for a fixed monthly fee when it launches in the United States, Europe and Japan in June.

Sony's latest service is to combine PlayStation Plus with PlayStation Now. There are three choices of membership tiers globally, namely:

  1. PlayStation Plus Essential (USD 9.99 or IDR 138 thousand per month and USD 59.99 or IDR 838 thousand per year)
  2. PlayStation Plus Extra (14.99 US dollars per month or IDR 208 thousand and USD  99.99 or IDR 1.3 million per year)
  3. PlayStation Plus Premium (17.99 US dollars or IDR 250 thousand per month and 119.99 US dollars or IDR 1.6 million per year)

"With this tier, our primary focus is on ensuring that the hundreds of games we offer will include the best quality content that sets us apart," he said.

PlayStation Plus Extra adds to the catalog of PS4 and PS5 games. PlayStation Plus Premium offers a further library of older titles, cloud streaming in major markets, and limited-time game trials.

At launch, Sony plans to include titles like Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal.

When the new PlayStation Plus service launches, PlayStation Now will transition to the new PlayStation Plus offering and will no longer be available as a standalone service. Jim said that PlayStation Now subscribers will migrate to PlayStation Plus Premium without an increase in subscription fees.

“As this is a massive launch effort, we are rolling out the new PlayStation Plus offering in a phased regional approach. In the June timeframe, we'll start with an early launch in a few markets in Asia, followed by North America, Europe, and the rest of the world where PlayStation Plus is offered," said Ryan.

Sony will give you an early look at its new PlayStation Plus subscription service today and will share more information with you as launch time draws near.
