JAKARTA - The exchange Crypto.com announced the launch of the nonfungible token collection (NFT) "The Moment of Truth" featuring Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James to 5,550 viewers selected at random from its Super Bowl commercial.

Those who find and scan the hidden QR code that appears 10 seconds into the conversation between today's James and his teenage self can enter to win a limited edition NFT. The collection consists of instant snapshots of behind-the-scenes moments from the creation of Big Game venues.

"Sleuths" who scan the QR code that appears on the screen for a split second follow him to the "secret" webpage and have the opportunity to register with Crypto.com's NFT platform until the Friday after the match.

Lucky fans will get an airdrop of one of the 5,550 total NFTs for free. This drop consists of 15 NFTs which come in three tiers with various editions.

Crypto.com partners with LeBron James and the LeBron James Family Foundation, or LJFF, to collaborate on providing Web3-focused educational and vocational education opportunities.

This partnership will provide students and families in LeBron James' hometown of Akron, Ohio with access to tools and resources to learn about blockchain technology and potential career paths in crypto.

“I wanted to make sure that communities like the one I came from weren't left behind,” said James, adding that he and Crypto.com had the same idea. "We agree with the need to educate and support my community with the information and tools they need."

Air-dropped NFTs are not for sale by Crypto.com. Five percent of any NFT resale, whether on the NFT platform Crypto.com or another secondary exchange, will go to the LeBron James Family Foundation as royalties.

LeBron James is part of a long list of celebrity partners from Crypto.com including Matt Damon, whose ads have been the target of criticism. The exchange recently partnered with LA-based women's sports team Angel City Football Club.
