Apple Intelligence Needs Storage Space Up To 7GB On IPhone

JAKARTA iPhone performance is getting much better thanks to the presence of Apple Intelligence, innovation to present an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based feature. Unfortunately, this innovation takes up too much space.

When it was first released via the iOS 18.1 update, Apple Intelligence only required a capacity of 4GB. Now, the number has doubled as the feature has increased and will mostly be active by default once updated.

If users want to update the device system that includes Apple Intelligence, they must ensure the remaining storage is 7GB. In less than that, they will be asked to free up more storage space.

According to Apple's official website, this storage count requirement only applies to the free version. That is, if the remaining storage is more than 7GB, but the storage space comes from iCloud, the system update will not be possible.

So far, 7GB capacity is needed because Apple Intelligence presents the Genmoji feature, Image Playground, Visual Intelligence, to the integration of ChatGPT to Siri. After releasing iOS 18.3, the amount of capacity needed may increase again.

This information shows that iPhone 15 Pro users or later need to consider their device's capacity. If the capacity is small, they may have to consider using iCloud in the future.
