Camera ISP Experts Will Directly Work On The Second Generation Google Tensor Chip

JAKARTA - Google has recently continued to focus on developing its camera phones, and the latest results show the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro with the best camera performance among modern Android devices.

It is the result of the close integration of hardware and software. Now, Google is recruiting a new team based in San Diego, California, United States (US) to design the camera Image Signal Processor (ISP).

According to an AndroidCentral report, this new hire is likely to design and develop the next generation of Google Tensor SoC, which is rumored to be codenamed Cloudripper.

Google Senior Director, Mike Coulter, posted a hiring announcement on the link stating that the company is looking to set up an ISP Camera design and verification team based in San Diego, California, the USA with vacancies at all levels.

It should be noted, before joining Google, Coulter was Vice President of Engineering at Qualcomm for four years at the international chip company.

Launching Gizmochina, Monday, January 31, one Twitter user, Anshel Sag, alluded to the possibility that Google might try to capture talent and luck from Qualcomm, which is also based in San Diego, California, USA.

It was previously reported that Google is indeed working on a 2nd generation Tensor chip which it claims will be announced in the second half of 2022 and is likely to be embedded in the upcoming Pixel 7 series devices.

Even so, there is no information about the innards of the current 2nd generation Tensor chip, and only the code name and model number of the alleged GS201 have been leaked.
