Apple's New Innovation, Face ID Can Still Be Used Even If You Wear A Mask, Valid For IPhone 12 And 13

JAKARTA - Nearly two years since the COVID-19 pandemic began, Apple has finally allowed iPhone users to unlock their iPhones with Face ID even when wearing a face mask.

Face ID, Apple's facial recognition system, has reportedly received a very important update as part of iOS 15.4, which is now going through beta testing.

Florida-based iOS user Brandon Butch, one of the early testers, has posted a screenshot of the new feature to Twitter.

It appears that iPhone users have the option to turn the device on and off, although Apple says Face ID is more effective while being able to see the entire face.

'Face ID is most accurate when set for full facial recognition only,' Apple's new feature notifies users, according to screenshots.

'To use Face ID while wearing a mask, iPhone can recognize unique features around the eye area to authenticate.'

iPhone users have the option to tap 'Use Face ID With Mask' or 'Don't Use Face ID With Mask'.

According to Butch, users will first have to set up their iPhone and tap on 'Face ID', followed by 'Use Face ID With a Mask' to enable and disable the option.

Additionally, the new feature will only work on iPhone 12 and later, according to 9to5Mac, meaning users using iPhone 11 or earlier will still have to remove their masks for Face ID to work.

Apple has introduced several features in its latest software update that are designed to allow users to log into their phones more easily.

Last April, Apple released the iOS 14.5 software update with a feature that allows users wearing masks to unlock their iPhones with an Apple Watch.
