JAKARTA – The world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance has announced that it has entered into a partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF). As a result of this collaboration, Binance became the official sponsor of the biggest football event in the Black Continent, namely the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations which will be held from January 9 to February 6, 2022, in Cameroon.

Furthermore, Binance is also the official partner of Assist of the Day/Binance Assist of the Week/Binance Assist of the Tournament. This feature will be promoted across CAF's social media channels and all six places in five cities in Cameroon.

The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations football tournament will open with the host match against Burkina Faso. The tournament will be broadcast in more than 160 countries with an estimated audience of over 300 million. In addition, the Binance logo will be displayed in every stadium during the match.

CAF Secretary General Veron Mosengo-Omba believes that the Binance cryptocurrency exchange will further connect with African users and local communities following this initiative.

“CAF is ready to embrace blockchain-based technology and its impact on the future development of African football. I believe that with Binance, we can take African football to a new level,” said Veron Mosengo-Omba.

Based on Cryptopotato's report, Yi He as Binance's Co-founder and CMO stated that his company's mission is to provide greater access to financial services for the unbanked world. As such, Binance has provided free crypto education classes to more than 540,000 Africans since 2020. According to the executive, Africa has the potential to lead the future of the blockchain industry.

“We will continue to work towards driving mainstream crypto adoption so that more people can understand crypto and understand Binance,” said Yi He.

The results of the study show that Africa has the largest crypto adoption rate in the world, its growth exceeding 1,200 percent throughout 2021. A number of African countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Tanzania are included in the top 20 of the Global Crypto Adoption Index.

According to a recent survey, around 70 percent of local crypto investors believe investing in bitcoin or altcoins can provide their families with a better life.

Specifically, 48 percent allocated funds in cryptocurrency to pay for their children's future education costs. In comparison, 43 percent did the same to determine the funds to be given to their relatives.
