JAKARTA - Before 2021 ends, Telegram has just launched several new features in its application. Among these are hidden captions to cover film spoilers.

So if a user finds a spoiler like the Spider-Man: No Way Home movie before watching it, the user can use the feature to hide the word "Spider-Man: No Way Home". The feature will hide text in chats, notifications, and chat lists.

This hidden text feature is similar to what Twitter has. The app also doesn't let users see tweets or content they don't want to see, such as spoilers for movies they haven't watched.

There's also iMessage-style reactions, where users can double-tap any message to send a thumbs-up reaction. Tapping once (or pressing for on iOS) will allow the user to select another emoji, such as fire, surprised face, or thumbs down.

These emojis can be changed according to the user's taste, by double-tapping the default in Chat Settings if on Android, and under the Stickers and Emoji section in iOS settings.

In private chats, reactions are always activated automatically. But in groups and channels, admins can decide whether to enable it and what reactions other members can choose to use.

Further quoted from Engadget, Friday, December 31, Telegram now has a useful translation option. Through the Language section of Settings, users can enable translation, which adds a Translate button to the context menu.

Users can change the language they can understand and the Translate button will not be available on messages they receive in that language.

Translate is available on all Android devices, but iPhone and iPad users must be running iOS 15 or later. The number of languages that Telegram supports depends on the user's operating system.

In addition, users can generate QR codes for anyone with a public username, as well as bots, groups and channels. To do this, users can tap the QR code icon next to their username, choose a color and pattern before sharing it with others. Users can find their own QR code in Settings.

Others, the Telegram team redesigned the context menu on macOS with new shortcut hints and animated icons. The app will show full-screen effects in one-on-one chats when the user sends certain emojis as well.

Some of these features are quite helpful for users, considering that Telegram often competes with Signal and WhatsApp, it must continue to provide new experiences for users.

Just earlier this year Telegram added group video calling and other features, including a way to block other people in group chats from taking screenshots and saving shared media, as well as live streaming with unlimited viewers.
