JAKARTA – Cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com has signed another deal to expand its brand recognition in the United States with a professional women's sports team, Angel City Football Club.

In its Tuesday, December 21 announcement, Crypto.com said it had partnered with the Los Angeles soccer team in an effort to increase awareness of and access to crypto, blockchain and Web 3.0 among Angelenos, soccer fans, and athletes themselves.

The exchange said it plans to continue looking for “unique and impactful ways” to invest in LA, with partnerships aiming to encourage “financial education, independence, and financial empowerment” for women.

“Given the speed at which Web 3.0 and cryptocurrencies are changing our world, we want to ensure that women are taken on a journey as investors and creators,” said Angel City Football Club co-founder and president, Julie Uhrman, as quoted by Cointelegraph.

“We are excited to work with [Crypto.com] to educate our community and players about crypto and enable our players to use the power of NFT to connect and create deeper relationships with their fans,” said Uhrman.

This partnership is the crypto exchange's latest expansion to Los Angeles. Crypto.com announced in November that it had secured the naming rights to the Staples Center multi-purpose building for 20 years with $700 million in contracts.

The venue – expected to be officially renamed on Saturday – has become home to the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA, as well as the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL and the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA.

As it has grown, Crypto.com has partnered with well-known individuals and companies to promote cryptocurrency and blockchain. In July, the company signed a $175 million (IDR 2.4 trillion) sponsorship agreement with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Actor Matt Damon has also appeared in commercials released worldwide starting October.
