Defendant Of Theft And Murder In Mangliawan Malang Sentenced To 18 Years In Prison

The District Court (PN) of the Kepanjen, Malang Regency, East Java sentenced two defendants to theft and murder cases in East Wendit Hamlet, Mangliawan Village, namely M Wakhid Hasyim Afandi (29) and M Iqbal Faisal Amir (28).

In its decision, the Panel of Judges chaired by Nanang Dwi Kristanto assessed that the two defendants were proven and legally committed the crime of theft with violence in a burdensome situation that resulted in death.

"Therefore, each of the defendants is sentenced to 18 years in prison," said Chief Judge Nanang Dwi Kristanto as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 25.

The panel of judges said the two defendants were guilty as criminalized in Article 365 paragraph 4 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with violence.

The act of theft accompanied by violence committed by Wakhid and Iqbal caused one person named Sri Agus Purwanto to die.

Meanwhile, another victim, named Esther Sri Purwani, suffered injuries.

According to the panel of judges, the sentence of 18 years in prison was handed down to the two defendants in accordance with the demands of the public prosecutor (JPU).
