Trump Says US Delays Attack on Iran, Strait of Hormuz as a Condition of the Deal

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump said his country postponed a new attack on Iran. According to Trump, the delay was made after Iran and a number of Middle Eastern countries asked for the attack to be held back because the parameters of the agreement had been agreed.

China Daily, quoted on Sunday, August 2, reported that the statement was made by Trump through a post on Truth Social on Saturday. He said the US military was in a position to attack Iran.

Trump said the United States was "fully prepared" to face the Islamic Republic of Iran with military power that he described as having never been seen since World War II.

However, Trump said Washington was asked to hold off on the attack. He attributed the delay to the possibility of reaching an agreement.

"However, we have just been asked by Iran and other Middle Eastern countries to delay the attack because the parameters of an agreement have been agreed upon," Trump said.

According to Trump, the deal includes the immediate, full, and total opening of the Strait of Hormuz. He also said the deal must end Iran's nuclear threat.

The Strait of Hormuz is an important sea route in the Persian Gulf. This route is one of the world's main routes for oil shipments, so any tension in the region can have an impact on the energy market.

Trump also set a limit. He said the decision to postpone the attack depended on the parties' ability to reach an agreement quickly.

Trump's decision comes amid US media reports of new plans for an attack on Iran.

China Daily also quoted a report by The Wall Street Journal which said Trump had ordered the military to prepare a new attack on Iran. The attack is said to start as early as this weekend and last several days.

CBS News also reported that the United States and Israel are preparing an intense attack on Iran's energy infrastructure. The attack is said to be able to start at the weekend.

Iran responded with a warning to the United States. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi asked Washington not to take "adventurous" action.

According to Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency, Araghchi said those responsible for the actions against Iran would bear the consequences.

Trump said the delay in the attack depended on the ability of the parties to reach a quick agreement on the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear threat.
