JAKARTA – Amazon, recently addressed a problem that prevented their app from running properly on Android 12 phones. In fact, the app was often unusable after being downloaded from the App store.

"We've released a fix for an issue affecting app launch for Amazon Appstore customers who have upgraded to Android 12 on their mobile devices," a company spokesperson told Engadget on Friday, December 17.

"We are contacting customers with steps to update their Appstore experience. We apologize for the disruption this has caused," an Amazon spokesperson said.

Reports of apps from Appstore not working on Android 12 started appearing online at the end of October.

Those who own devices like the Google Pixel 6 and Samsung Galaxy S21 find that they cannot run any software that they have previously downloaded from the Appstore.

There are also reports of no app appearing on the market. While this issue didn't affect many people, it took about a month for Amazon to officially acknowledge it.

As of last Friday, Amazon did not say what caused the problem. When it first appeared, there was speculation that it stemmed from a mismatch between Amazon's built-in DRM and Android 12.
