JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) stated that currently, the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) identification process through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system has resumed operations.

"Currently the CEIR system for the IMEI identification procedure has functioned normally again. A final verification has been carried out indicating the CEIR application for both IMEI Check traffic from EIR Operators and data distribution at the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Communication and Information, Directorate General of Customs and Excise," said a spokesperson for the Ministry of Communication and Information, Dedy Permadi in a statement quoted by VOI, Monday, December 6.

The disruption of the IMEI identification process through CEIR on Thursday, December 2 was the result of the Cyber 1 building fire, in the Kuningan area, West, South Jakarta.

According to the CEIR data center located in the building, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics on Friday, December 3 last conducted an initial inspection to determine the condition of the server after the sudden power outage due to the fire.

Although the electricity supply and internet connection for all operators have been successfully connected, there is one server that is still experiencing problems, so it is necessary to replace the device on the server. Now, the CEIR system is back to normal operation.

The CEIR system is a container to accommodate data from the IMEI registration process on Mobile Devices, Handheld Computers and Tablets (HKT) in the form of passenger luggage and shipments carried out through the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, or new devices purchased directly at outlets, as well as SIM Card replacement.

In addition, HKT belonging to Foreign Citizens (WNA) is also required to register their devices when entering Indonesia through cellular operators. The CEIR system also manages the IMEI Production Registration Certificate (TPP) registration process which is carried out through the Indonesian Ministry of Industry.
