FIFA President Offers Long-term Loan Funds To PSSI?

JAKARTa - Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Mochamad Iriawan, held a virtual meeting with the World Football Federation (FIFA). This online meeting discussed the progress of Indonesia's preparations to host the U-20 World Cup which will be held in 2021.

This virtual meeting was also attended by FIFA President Gianni Infantino. On this occasion, he stated that FIFA would assist its members in dealing with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. One of them is by providing assistance funds that will be disbursed in three terms.

In addition, FIFA is also likely to provide long-term loan funds to its members, including PSSI. This can be done if FIFA members are needed in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Based on the difficulties faced by our members," Infantino said at the meeting which was held on Wednesday, July 29.

Meanwhile, the PSSI Ketum conveyed the preparation process for the U-20 World Cup. Iriawan said, PSSI continues to work hard to ensure that the implementation remains according to plan. He also revealed to FIFA the extraordinary support provided by the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

In addition, the PSSI Ketum also reported on the League 1 and 2 competitions which will roll back in October. For this one matter, the national football master has coordinated with a number of parties, including the COVID-19 Handling Task Force.

The FIFA President emphasized that all of its members should continue to anticipate the Covid-19 pandemic which is still hitting 216 countries in the world. Stakeholders' health and safety is of utmost importance.
