MU Squad Doesn't Trust Solskjaer Anymore, Senior Players Are Annoyed With The Coach's Indecision

JAKARTA - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is facing serious problems over how to save his position as manager of Manchester United. The 48-year-old coach was not trusted by a large number of his players even before the Red Devils were beaten by Liverpool 5-0 last weekend.

In addition, as reported by Antara from ESPN, United's officials already know that former Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte is willing to become the manager of the Red Devils.

Solskjaer, who was initially appointed caretaker manager after Jose Mourinho was sacked in December 2018, has now lost five of his last nine games. Solksjaer is also reportedly only supported by Manchester United players from England and only a small part of their foreign legion.

While the atmosphere at the club is completely different from the chaotic situation under Mourinho, the defeat to Liverpool has raised questions about Solskjaer's future at Old Trafford.

Most of the players highlighted Solskjaer's inability to solve his team's defensive problems, his blatant "favoritism" towards underperforming players and his reluctance to play Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic. It all has led to a number of players outspoken criticism of the Norwegian manager.

ESPN sources also say senior players have been increasingly irritated by Solskjaer's indecisiveness with his blunt forwards.

A source pointed to the lack of mutual understanding between Cristiano Ronaldo and Mason Greenwood due to Solskjaer's own inability to force the two players to work well together on the pitch.

The MU players saw the two players rarely want to pass each other when in an attacking position. Ronaldo was even annoyed by Greenwood's decision to often execute the ball himself instead of passing the ball to him even though Ronaldo was already in a good position to score goals.

United's players have become convinced that the former Molde manager is not as experienced and has the mentality of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel.

ESPN sources also say senior United players want more tactical direction from Solskjaer and his coaching team which they rarely get.

Therefore, now Antonio Conte, who has led Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan to win domestic trophies, is considered the right coach for MU.

United were reportedly reluctant to sign Conte due to his tough and demanding character, but realized he was the best option available if they sacked Solksjaer.

Mauricio Pochettino is actually United's ideal choice but the coach is already tied to Paris Saint-Germain despite also facing an unconvincing start to the season.
