JAKARTA - The construction of the Hambalang National Training, Education and Sports School (P3SON) Center, West Java, has been neglected since 2011 due to a corruption case. The plan is that development will continue in the era of the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali.

"The president gave directions (Hambalang) to use it. I have coordinated with the Ministry of PUPR (Public Works and Public Housing)," said Menpora in a conversation with MNCTrijaya.

According to the plan, Menpora Zainudin Amali will use the Hambalang as a place for training athletes aged 10-13 years old for sports who subscribe to appearing in the Olympics.
This plan is in line with President Jokowi's wish for Indonesia to host the 2032 Olympics. Menpora wants to prepare quality athletes who will bring Indonesia's name to the event.
"We have to prepare now so that by 2032, they will be ready. Because the athlete's peak performance is around 24-26 years," said the Menpora.
Apart from President Jokowi, the 'green light' to continue the construction of the Hambalang guesthouse project also came from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). This was conveyed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Gatot S Dewabroto, who met the KPK leadership in March 2016.
Gatot emphasized that it is necessary to re-design before continuing the construction of the Hambalang project. Currently, communication between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of PUPR, which was interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has now restarted.
