Ahead Of Cadiz Vs Barcelona, Koeman: We Are In A Transition Period, Please Be Patient

JAKARTA - Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman said his club is currently in transition and the process requires patience.

The Dutch coach made the remarks at a brief press conference on Wednesday ahead of the match against Cadiz in La Liga on Friday morning.

Koeman's current position as Barcelona tactician has been on the brink since last week following a 3-0 loss at home to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and a 1-1 draw at home to Granada in La Liga.

Speaking ahead of the La Liga match against Cadiz, Koeman said the club still has faith in him to lead the team through the transition and the focus is on young players.

"The club is with me in this reconstruction period. We have to reconstruct the team as a squad without making big investments and this takes time," Koeman said while reading a statement at a virtual press conference, quoted by Antara from Reuters.

“The young talents we have can become world stars in a few years. The young players will have chances, as Xavi and (Andres) Iniesta had in their time, but we ask for patience."

"Finishing high in the table is a success in itself and in the Champions League, we cannot expect miracles. The defeat against Bayern has to be taken with perspective. The team must be supported, with words and with action."
