JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office has ensured that around 17,600 units of electric motorcycles procured by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) which have been sealed in the investigation of alleged corruption in the management of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program can still be distributed and utilized.
Director of Investigation of the Attorney General's Office for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, said all electric motorcycles that had been assembled and stored in two warehouses had been sealed by investigators.
"Last we have sealed all the assembled electric motorcycles. There are two places. The total number is around 17,600 units," Syarief told the media at the Attorney General's Office, South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
Even though it was sealed, the Attorney General's Office did not confiscate the vehicle. The sealing was carried out solely to monitor the movement of assets whose purchase had been paid using state funds.
"We did not confiscate the motorcycle as evidence. We just sealed it to monitor the movement of the motorcycle because it had been paid in full by the state," he said.
Syarief emphasized that the use of electric motorcycles will then be handed over to BGN. The Attorney General's Office will also coordinate with BGN regarding the mechanism for distributing and spending vehicles from storage warehouses.
"Later we will hand over the use to BGN. We will coordinate with BGN, what is the use, the expenditure from the warehouse will be facilitated by us," he said.
When asked whether electric motorcycles could still be distributed even though the alleged corruption case was still in the investigation stage, Syarief answered briefly, "Yes."
According to him, confiscation has the potential to reduce the economic value and benefits of vehicles if they are stored for too long without being used.
"What we are worried about is that the motorcycle will shrink its economic value and usefulness. Because what we are tracking here is the problem of mark-up of the price," he said.
Syarief added that investigators were still checking a number of electric motorcycles that were suspected of not being assembled. However, the exact number is still in the process of data collection.
"It seems that there are still a few that have not been assembled. We are checking again," he concluded.
