JAKARTA - Jose Mourinho said the AS Roma players failed to adapt to the changing style of Verona's play who had just changed coaches during the 3-2 defeat in the Italian League at Marc'Antonio Bentegodi, Sunday local time.
Verona has just sacked Eusebio Di Francesco due to three consecutive defeats at the start of the season and Igor Tudor has taken over as coach at Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.
Mourinho considered the change of coach to cause a good reaction in the Verona squad and Roma failed to anticipate it.
"Tudor's approach to the game is almost similar to what Verona did last season, so it's not easy for him or the players to adapt," Mourinho said after the match, quoted by Antara from Roma's official website.
"I don’t have anything bad to say about our attitude and our desire to get a result. But we didn’t play well, and we didn’t adapt well to the way they were playing."

"But I think we didn't play well ourselves and failed to adapt to their pattern of play.
"We lost a lot of individual duels, then failed to secure wild balls and Verona could be more intense in important phases," he added.
On the other hand, Mourinho felt the quick yellow card received by Jordan Veretout when the game was only 17 minutes old made it difficult for the Roma defensive midfielder to develop his game.
Veretout has indeed become one of the important pillars of Roma's game under Mourinho after in the previous three matches he recorded three goals and one assist.
Veretout's yellow card made it difficult for Roma to regain possession in midfield as the French midfielder was more cautious before being substituted for Carles Perez in the 66th minute.

"Veretout was very limited because of his yellow card. For someone who played a role in winning the ball, the yellow card was too early and he became careful when making tackles," he said.
Roma's first defeat under Mourinho saw them drop to fourth in the standings, failing to add to their collection of nine points.
Roma will next host Udinese at the Olimpico on Thursday.
