Signing Contract With Man United Ahead Of His Debut, Ronaldo: I'm Not Here For A Vacation

JAKARTA - Cristiano Ronaldo signed a contract ahead of his second debut with Manchester United. At that moment the Portuguese striker also emphasized that his return to Old Trafford was not for a holiday.

In an interview with former team-mate Wes Brown, whose small excerpt was posted on the MU website on Friday morning, Ronaldo also hopes that he can prove his worth at Manchester United with steady performances in the next three or four years.

"That's why I'm here", Ronaldo said, referring to his desire to prove his worth again.

"I didn't come here for a holiday. As I said before everything was beautiful, won important things and I wore this shirt many years ago, but I'm here to be a winner again.

"I am capable, as are my teammates. I am ready to step on the gas. This is a good opportunity for me, the fans, the club, to take one step forward.

"I'm ready and I think I'm going to be big in three or four years", he said.

After helping Manchester United win a triumvirate of Premier League titles with one Champions League trophy in 2007/08, Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid in 2009 to reach the pinnacle of his career.

Nine seasons in the Spanish capital, Ronaldo continued his adventure at Juventus although he only lasted three seasons and returned to Old Trafford late last month.

Ronaldo left the Portugal national team camp early in order to have the opportunity to re-adapt to Manchester United again this week.

Back wearing the number seven jersey, Ronaldo can make his second debut with the Red Devils in the Premier League when they host Newcastle United at Old Trafford, Saturday, September 11 tomorrow and be the beginning of the club's hopes of ending the title drought.
