Liga 1 Officially Begins, Erick Thohir: This Is A Gift For Indonesian People

JAKARTA - SOE Minister Erick Thohir said BRI Liga 1 is the driving force for the community's economy. Creative industries around football such as official business actors, athletes, referees, can roll and have a wider positive impact.

Erick Thohir also reminded the public to continue to carry out health protocols and strict vaccination requirements when providing support for their favorite soccer team from their respective homes.

"This is a gift for the people of Indonesia. Come on, friends, we give support from our homes. The Minister of SOEs appreciated BRI for playing a major role as the main supporter of the football competition. "My appreciation for BRI, which plays a major role as the main supporter. This is a tangible manifestation of BUMN's commitment to the community," he said.

Quoted from ANTARA, the opening ceremony of the BRI Liga 1 Indonesia season 2021-2022 at SUGBK was simple and attended by SOE Minister Erick Thohir, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin as well as several representatives of ministries, Polri, TNI, BNPB, PSSI, PT Liga Indonesia Baru and other football stakeholders.

After giving a speech, the ceremony continued with the handing over of the 2019 Indonesian League 1 champion trophy from the Bali United champions to PSSI.

Then, there was a procession of giving the 2021-2022 season Liga 1 ball from the Minister of SOEs to the General Chair of PSSI. PSSI then passed the ball to the FIFA licensed referee who officiated the league's inaugural match, Yudi Nurcahya, as a sign of the start of the new Liga 1 season.

The first match of the 2021-2022 Indonesian Liga 1 brought together the 2019 Indonesian Liga 1 champions Bali United against the 2019 Indonesian Liga 2 champions, Persik Kediri.
