JAKARTA - Japanese video game company Konami announced a deal with Brazilian soccer star Neymar Jr to become the brand ambassador of Pro Evolution Soccer (PES).

The Paris Saint Germain (PSG) striker will soon appear in the Iconic Moment Series game PES, including the 2021 season update version.

"I am honored to have signed a contract with Konami," said Neymar da Silva Santos Junior, as reported by Antara, Thursday, July 22.

"I want to continue to play with passion and generate a lot of excitement in the world of football with PES and Winning Eleven," said the former Barcelona player.

Neymar (29 years old) became the second top scorer for the Brazilian national team, with more than 68 goals in 111 games, from 2010 to 14 July 2021.

Neymar was previously on the cover of PES with other Barcelona players, namely Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Ivan Rakitić in 2016-2017. But his position at the end of the game was replaced by Gerard Pique following Neymar's move to PSG in 2017.

PES, which was established for 26 years since July 21, 1995, is the main competitor to the EA FIFA game.
