U-17 World Cup: Indonesia Still Has A Chance To Qualify For The Fall

JAKARTA The Indonesian national team still has a chance to qualify for the knockout round of the 2025 U-17 World Cup even though they have not secured victory from two matches in the group stage.

Nova Arianto's squad has recently lost 0-4 to Brazil in the second match of Group H at Field 7 Aspire Zone, Al Rayyan, Qatar, on Friday, November 7, 2025 evening WIB.

"Yes, I am quite happy with their hard work today, because this match is better than our match against Zambia," Nova said after the match.

Indonesia previously also lost 1-3 against Zambia in the first match of the group stage. These two defeats made Garuda Muda not collect points at all.

Indonesia now sits in third place in the group standings, behind Brazil, which fills the top position with six points and Zambia in second place with the same points.

Even though they have not won, the Garuda Muda chance to the knockout stages is open because they will still play the third or final match of the group against Honduras on Monday next week.

Mathematically, Nova Arianto's squad still has the opportunity to secure a ticket to the round of 32 as one of the eight best third-placed teams.

To reach the knockout stages, Mathew Baker and colleagues need to lock up the victory against Honduras in the last match. A big win will be better for Garuda Muda.

Currently, Indonesia is still in 12th position in the best third-placed standings. Thus, winning against Honduras is an unnegotiable fixed price.

The duel between Indonesia and Honduras will take place on Monday, November 20, 2025. The clash took place at Field 2 Aspire Zone, Al Rayyan.

Indonesia is favored to secure three points from these clashes. The reason is, Honduras is also in poor form so far by conceding 12 goals.
