Cristiano Ronaldo Apologizes After The Late Al Nassr Match Begins

JAKARTA - Cristiano Ronaldo apologized after Al Nassr's match against Al Wehda was postponed due to traffic jams.

Al Nassr bus arrives nine minutes after its supposed kick-off schedule. It makes a game delay for an hour.

"I want to apologize on behalf of Al Nassr for starting the game late. This shouldn't have happened again. Sorry," said Ronaldo.

Apart from that, the 40-year-old scored in Al Nassr's 2-0 win in the Saudi Arabian Pro League (Saudi Pro League) on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, early morning WIB.

Ronaldo then let his team-mate Sadio Mane take a penalty to seal the win.

All of Al Nassr's goals were scored in the second half, to be precise in the 48th and 90th minutes after the first half ended goalless.

"It was a tough game. The first half was difficult because we traveled three hours on the bus because traffic jams and roads were closed."

"We started not too well, but in the second half we were a little better. We fixed our problems and scored two goals, so we were happy," Ronaldo told SSC Sports.

Ronaldo further praised his teammates as they bounced back after losing to Al Ettikaq.

"It should be back like that. It's Al Nassr, we have to react. We have to keep winning and let's see what happens," said the Portuguese player.

Ronaldo said the team's focus was on the Saudi Arabia Pro League and the AFC Champions League Elite, where they faced Esteghlal Tehran in the round of 16 on Monday, March 3, 2025.

"Fight by game, we have to rebuild confidence. We have to do it again, we have to win, win, win, win, and let's see what happens," Ronaldo said.

Stefano Pioli's team is now in third place in the Saudi Arabian Pro League standings with 47 points.

They are lagging behind leaders Al Ittihad, who still have one game in hand, with a difference of eight points.

Then, Al Nassr is still four points away from Al Hilal who is in second place in the standings.

Cristiano Ronaldo leads the list of Saudi Arabia's Pro League goalscorers with 17 goals this season, one goal ahead of Karim Benzema from Al Ittihad.
